Celebrating Nurses Week at Northwell Health

When we celebrate National Nurses Week, we immediately think of the contributions made by the founder of modern-day nursing, Florence Nightingale. A pioneer in every sense of the word, her fearless yet benevolent approach would change the course of nursing forever. To this day, her impact continues to encourage, inspire, and lead millions around the world to provide better healthcare for all. Something we at Northwell Health witness every day in the strength, compassion and dedication of our more than 18,000 nurses.

After a year unlike any other, we are stronger today because of our registered nurses’ commitment to raising the standard of care in the communities where we live, love and belong. And as we reflect on the selfless individuals the whole world considers heroes, it fills our hearts with gratitude to call these incredible men and women our colleagues, our friends, our family, and our neighbors.

Beyond celebrating nurses during National Nurses Week, the American Nurses Association joins the World Health Organization (WHO) and global colleagues in extending the Year of the Nurse and Midwife from last year into 2021 to properly honor the efforts of nurses around the world.

Northwell Health is proud to join these organizations in recognizing nurses everywhere and in particular commending the ways in which our professionals redefine what it means to raise health every day. And we support their success through training at our Center for Learning and Innovation, tuition reimbursement, certification advancements, and leadership development opportunities.

From all of us here at Northwell, Happy Nurses Week!
