5 Easy Make-At-Home Infused Waters For Nurses

This article was republished with permission from SCRUBS Magazine.

You know you should drink more water, but those sugary drinks all aglow in the vending machine at 3 AM sure are tempting. Break the spell for good this year by arming yourself with any of these clever water concoctions—we promise they’re as good to your taste buds as they are to your body.

To help you drink it all in (pun intended), we’ve gathered our top five easy, make-at-home infused waters, perfect for busy nurses who have decided to make 2015 their healthiest year yet.

Just throw one of these mixes together in the evening (or in the morning—we gotcha, night-shifters), let it marinate overnight and then pour the finished product into a few grab-and-go bottles for a healthy, hydrating treat you can look forward to at work. We have a hunch that you’ll be glowing (and considerably less munch-y) in no time at all.

1. “WELL” WATER

  • ½ gallon water
  • ½ grapefruit, sliced
  • ½ cucumber, sliced
  • ½ lemon, sliced
  • ½ lime, sliced
  • Dash of mint leaves

2. WATER ON THE ROCKS

  • ½ gallon water
  • 1 or 2 apples, thinly sliced
  • 1 or 2 cinnamon sticks
  • Generous helping of ice

3. COLOR-FULL(ER) WATER

  • 1 gallon water
  • Handful of raspberries
  • ½ grapefruit, sliced
  • ½ cucumber, sliced
  • 1 pear, sliced
  • 1 sprig fresh mint

4. CINNA-YUM WATER

  • 12 ounces water
  • 2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
  • 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
  • ½ apple, sliced
  • Dash of sweetener (optional)

For this one, you’ll want to blend all the ingredients except the apple for 10 seconds. Pour the blend over the sliced apples.

5. THE GINGER SPICE

  • 12 ounces water (room temperature)
  • Juice from ½ lemon
  • ½ knob fresh ginger root, grated (you can use a cheese grater)
