L&D RN needed in Soldotna, AK - A Labor and Delivery Nurse offers a balance of the same elements that are found in the ICU, operating room, ER department and pediatric nursing. A Labor and Delivery Nurse must have excellent communication skills because they are the link between the patient, family members and the physician. A Labor and Delivery Nurse must be able to think in a fast passed setting and come up with solutions quickly. L&D Nurses help the doctor and spend several hours on their feet.
Responsibilities
As a L&D Registered Nurse some of your duties include:

Assessing contractions, cervix for dilation, heart rates, etc.
Performing follow-up duties which include:

Assessing the newborns general condition.
Assessing the condition of the mother.
Looking for signs of distress.
Watching for signs of infections and any other problems.

Requirements

One year of experience as a Labor and Delivery Nurse within the past two years.

Active RN License in good standing.
Current Basic Life Support through American Heart Association.
Must pass pre-employment drug screen.
