L&D RN needed in La Jolla, CA - A Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse offers a balance of the same elements that are found in the ICU, OR, ER department and pediatric nursing. A Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse needs to have excellent communication skills because they are the link between the patient, family members and the doctor. A Labor and Delivery RN must be able to think quickly and make decisions quickly. Labor and Delivery RNs assist the physician and spend several hours on their feet.
Responsibilities
As a L&D Registered Nurse some of your duties include:

Assessing contractions, cervix for dilation, fetal heart rate, etc.
Performing follow-up duties which consist of:

Analyzing the newborns general condition.
Checking the mothers condition.
Watching for signs of trouble.
Checking for signs of infections and any other complications.

Requirements

One year of experience as a L&D Registered Nurse within the past two years.

Current RN License in good standing.
Up to date Basic Life Support through American Heart Association.
Negative Drug Screen.
