Austin's motto is "Keep Austin Weird" and that tells you alot about the unique character of the city that is called the "Live Music Capital of the World." Houston has all the excitement of a large city and is of special interest to fans of NASA and the space program plus it's just a short drive to the beach and boardwalk in Galveston.
We must not forget to mention Dallas - Fort Worth a Texas-sized mix of cowboys and culture.

Texas is paradise for outdoor recreation too. Beach lovers flock to
South Padre Island but Big Bend National Park is a hidden gem in the national park system. Big Bend is a huge park along the Rio Grande border with Mexico and it has tall mountains, deep canyons and deserts where the cactus flower while the northern U.S. is blanket in snow. Because it's one of the least visited national parks, Big Bend is a special treat for people that want to enjoy nature in solitude.
