Position Summary:

 

POSITION SUMMARY:

Provides direct and indirect patient care in the emergency care setting. Provides care that reflects initiative, flexibility and responsibility indicative of professional expectation with a minimum of supervision. Is able to triage safely, rapidly and accurately, every patient that enters the emergency care system. Determines priorities of care based on physical and psychosocial needs, as well as factors influencing patient flow through the system. Communicates with Emergency Department physicians about changes in patient's status, symptoms, and results of diagnostic studies. Is able to respond quickly and accurately to changes in condition or response to treatment.

 

ESSENTIAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:

Utilizes the nursing process as the basis for nursing care.

Provides direct patient care.

Performs nursing functions, applying professional skills.

Maintain appropriate crisis intervention skills.

Carefully administers medications and intravenous solutions as ordered by the physician.

Communicates and acts as liaison between the patient, family, and physician with respect for confidentiality and dignity.

 
Requirements

ESSENTIAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, EDUCATION & ABILITIES:

Certification, Registration, or Licensure: Current Nevada RN license; Current BLS Certification.      ACLS, PALS, and NRP to be obtained within 3 months of start date.

Minimum Education: Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing.                       &nb sp;  

Minimum Experience: Six months Registered Nurse experience preferred.

Other: Required to be flexible in scheduling, i.e. weekends and holidays.  Demonstrates organizational skills and leadership ability.  Demonstrates the ability to understand the unique infant child, adolescent, adult and geriatric population and effectively meet the needs relative to growth, assessment and development of the patients.
