Palmetto Pee Dee Behavioral Health is a 60-bed behavioral health care facility located in Florence, SC. The facility provides services for psychiatric and substance abuse issues for children and adolescents. Palmetto Pee Dee Behavioral Health is a residential treatment program for severely psychiatrically disturbed males and females with varying degrees of intellectual and developmental functioning, as well as a range of psychiatric or addictive disease diagnoses including general psychiatric issues, dually diagnosed, post-traumatic stress disorder, Asperger’s Syndrome, autism, mild to moderate mental retardation, and pervasive developmental disorders. Separate units accommodate various treatment needs of children and adolescents. Palmetto Pee Dee Behavioral Health currently has a Per Diem, RN position available.

The candidate selected will deliver quality general and psychiatric nursing care to patients with emotional or psychiatric disorders; serve actively and constructively as a member of the multi-disciplinary treatment team and ensure the safety and well being of each patient.  

 
Requirements

The successful candidate will be a graduate of an accredited school of college of nursing. BSN preferred. Specialty certification also preferred. Minimum of one (1) year of recent experience.demonstrates sound leadership skills and utilizes these skills in organizing the activities and schedules for medical and/or non-medical tasks of the unit for a given shift; record of consistently high quality of clinical and interpersonal skills to be an exemplary role model to others.

  • Displays basic knowledge of treatment procedures
  • Knowledge of interventions common to acute psychotic as well as to non-violent crises intervention practice
  • Proven record of consistently high quality of clinical and interpersonal skills to be a role model to others;
  • Basic knowledge of abnormal psychology; application of this knowledge to nursing care;
  • Basic knowledge of medical terminology; thorough familiarity of psychopharmacy and the use of psychotropic medications;
  • Basic teaching and training skills helpful;
  • Problem-solving; organizational and time-management ; crisis intervention skills;
  • Written and oral communication skills;
  • Skills in facilitating and/or co-facilitating process oriented and didactic groups;
  • Must meet eligibility requirements for CPR, CPI and CHI certification 
  • Skills in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships in a variety of clinical and support team members; 
  • Flexibility regarding hours and scheduled work is required;
  • Maintaining information as highly confidential mandatory;
  • Prior knowledge and experience working in a therapeutic treatment environment is a plus;
