Garland Behavioral Hospital (GBH) is a 72-bed facility located inside Baylor Scott & White Medical Center - Garland. We provide a broad range of services for Adult Psychiatric conditions. Due to our expansion of the NEW Geriatrics and Adult unit, we have an opportunity for an experienced Registered Nurse (RN) to join our team in developing quality services that serve Garland and surrounding communities. RNs at GBH provide nursing care on a designated unit in a manner consistent with the philosophy of GBH and the ANA Standards Of Psychiatric Nursing. Utilizing the Nursing Process, our RNs coordinate the care of patients assuring continuity of care and a safe therapeutic milieu. RNs are an essential member of the multidisciplinary team and are responsible for supervision of unlicensed nursing staff. The Registered Nurse is accountable for assigned nursing care activities and responsible for promoting and enhancing professional nursing practice on the unit and may also assume Charge Nurse responsibilities as necessary.

The successful experienced individual must be able to demonstrate the competency, knowledge, skill, and flexibility to provide patient care to a varied population of adults, including seniors, dual diagnosed patients and those co-occurring medical diagnosis.

$5,000 SIGN-ON BONUS OPPORTUNITY with 2 year commitment OR $2,000 Sign on Bonus with 1 year commitment!

  • Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
  • BSN preferred
  • Licensure and registration by the Texas Board of Nurse Examiners as a registered nurse
  • Must have current BLS ( Basic Cardiac Life Support) certification
  • Must possess knowledge of general and psychiatric nursing processes, therapeutic relationships and processes, age specific growth and development, limit setting, crisis and behavior management.
  • Must have previous training in de-escalation training such as CPI, SAMA, Handle With Care or equivalent
  • Handle with Care and Verbal De-escalation to be completed within the first week of orientation
