Position Summary:
North Star Behavioral Health is one of Alaska’s top behavioral health providers, specializing in helping young people with life’s challenges. We have served children and adolescents through our acute care and residential treatment programs in Anchorage since 1984, and we now also treat service members and veterans at the Chris Kyle Patriots Hospital.

We are currently searching for a Recreational Therapist at our Anchorage Residential & Acute Treatment Center to provide recreational and expressive therapy services to residential patients. This person will serve as a member of the interdisciplinary treatment team and support the facility’s treatment program, and philosophy.
 
Requirements
This position requires a Bachelor’s degree in Therapeutic Recreation, Occupational Therapy, Psychology or related field. Experience in activity therapy and recreation facilitation preferred.  Current national registration as a Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (CTRS) or Master’s degree in Recreation, Occupational Therapy, Psychology or related field is required. This person must hold a valid Alaska driver license. The ideal candidate should be able to demonstrate knowledge and understanding of expressive arts, recreational therapy theory, and adventure challenge based experience with the ability to apply its principles in a psychiatric setting. Knowledge of a variety of treatment modalities and treatment of both individuals and families is strongly preferred. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, the ability to problem solve, and the ability to work as a team and with a diverse population is a must.

The schedule for this position is Tuesday-Saturday.
