We are looking for a highly motivated individual to be a part of our exceptional multi-disciplinary team!

Valley Hospital is seeking a compassionate and skilled Program Therapist to lead our new Intensive Outpatient Program dedicated to serve the mental health and substance abuse treatment needs of LGBTQ+ identified individuals, exclusively. The ideal candidate has professional and supervised clinical experience working with this diverse population, as well as familiarity with the local LGBTQ + community.  The new program is the latest addition to a robust Outpatient program serving a variety of needs within our community. The Outpatient Program Therapist will have the support of physician oversight which will include medication management when indicated and appropriate. 


The Outpatient Program Therapist performs group, individual, family, and couples psychotherapy to clients who are enrolled in our PHP and IOP programs for mental health, substance abuse, and dual diagnoses.  This role includes assessment, diagnosis, treatment planning, consultation, psycho-education, crisis intervention, and providing information and referrals as needed. The outpatient program therapist is primarily responsible for maintaining the chart clinical documentation, including treatment plan and treatment plan updates, clinical formulation, biopsychosocial assessment, substance abuse assessment, and discharge summary. Outpatient program therapist acts as the clinical lead in coordinating care among the multi-disciplinary staff involved in patient care.

Schedule details: Current opening is for Evening IOP, which runs Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays

From 6:00 – 9:00 pm.



1.  Formulate and conduct psychotherapy process, psycho-educational, and/or after-care groups.

2.  Communicate effectively with patients, families, health care team members and community providers regarding patient status and progress.

3.  Interact and communicate with community agencies as needed in assessment of and service to patients.

4.  Provide liaison and referral services to community agencies and appears in court when requested or subpoenaed.

5.  Maintain confidentiality in compliance with professional ethics according to professional and facility standards.

6.  Identify improvement or growth opportunities for the program, and participate in Performance Improvement projects and activities.

7.  Continue professional development in individual, family, and group therapy and maintain professional development in personnel file. Maintain continuing education per AZBBHE licensure requirements.

8.  Assist in the orientation of new colleagues and student interns.

9.  Other duties as assigned.



Education:   Master's Degree from an accredited college or university, in Counseling, Social Work, or a clinical related mental health field.

Experience:  A minimum of two (2) years’ experience in behavioral health, with direct experience in family, group, and individual therapy, crisis intervention, and treatment skills; strong clinical assessment skills preferred.

License:  Outpatient Program Therapist must possess an Arizona State license in counseling, social work, or clinical related mental health field (LAC, LPC, LMSW, or LCSW). Independent licensure preferred. Associate level licensure may be considered for the right candidate, with clinical supervision provided. Other licensure to be evaluated as needed.

Additional Requirements:  CPR certification and management of aggressive behavior (SAMA) training required. New Employee Orientation, which consists of approximately 4-5 days (M-F 8am to 5pm), and includes SAMA training, is required at the commencement of employment.
