Since 1969 Lakeside Behavioral Health System has been the premier provider of specialized behavioral health and addictive disease services in the Memphis and mid-south region. The 345 bed facility is located on a safe and private 37 acre campus in northeast Shelby County and provides comprehensive behavioral health treatment for adults, seniors, adolescents and children. Lakeside's specialized programs treat disorders such as depression and anxiety, as well as addictive disease disorders such as alcoholism and drug addiction. At Lakeside, we believe in offering a variety of options to our patients, making our programs more accessible and our treatment more effective, while maintaining high levels of quality care. Job Description:

The Medical Records Coder is responsible for chart assembly, chart analysis, coding and computer abstracting of all discharged patient’s medical records in a manner consistent with the philosophy and objectives of Lakeside Behavioral Health.

 
Requirements

Job Requirements:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to demonstrate competency in the criteria listed in this job description. The specifications listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and ability to meet the minimum requirements for this position.

High school diploma or equivalent. Prefer Associate degree in Health Information Technology.

Prefer one year in medical records department with a strong emphasis on record processing, computerized datat entry and coding experience.  Prior work in a psychiatric setting desirable.

RHIA preferred.

Prefer knowledge of medical, psychiatric and medical records terminology, procedures and functions, confidentiality and release of information laws, computerized data entry systems and familiarization with ICD-10-CM coding guidelines.
