Position Summary:
Position Summary:
Responsible for assisting physicians with patient care, clerical, environmental and organizational tasks. Responsible for appointment and chart management. Provides information to patients so they may fully utilize and benefit from the clinical services. Convey a positive image of the clinic.

Duties & Responsibilities:
• Fulfills patient care responsibilities as assigned which may include: Greet patients upon arrival, checking schedules and organizing patient flow; accompanying patients to exam/procedure room; assisting patients as needed with walking, transfers, dressing, collecting specimens, preparing for exam, etc.; collecting patient history; take patient vitals; weight, height, BP, temperature, O2, pulse, health problems/ allergies, verifying patient’s medication intake each office visit, performing screenings per provider guidelines; assisting physicians/nurses with various procedures, charting; relaying instructions to patients/families; assist doctors in exam room with patients; translate communication barrier if needed, know how to administer proper injections, explain treatment procedures, medications, diets and physicians’ instructions to patients.
• Fulfills environmental responsibilities as assigned which may include: Setting up instruments and equipment according to department protocol; cleaning sterilizer according to scheduled maintenance program and keeping appropriate records, ordering, sorting, storing supplies; restocking exam/procedure rooms, help physicians examine and treat patients; handing them instruments/materials, collect blood, tissue or other laboratory specimens, log the specimens and prepare them for authorizations, clean/sterilize instruments and dispose of contaminated supplies properly.
• Fulfills clerical responsibilities as assigned which may include: Answering calls and providing pertinent information, sending/receiving patient medical records; obtaining lab/x-ray reports, hospital notes, referral information, etc; completing forms/requisitions as needed; scheduling appointments; verifying insurance coverage and patient demographics; managing charts to ensure information is completed and accurate, authorize drug refills and provide prescription information to pharmacies, schedule referral appointments for specialist, radiology, or procedure and obtain prior authorization, know how to verify insurance when a patient is being sent out for any exams such as MRI, CT, US, X-rays, scan documents into patient chart, know phone numbers to admit patient in hospital.
• Fulfills organizational responsibilities as assigned which may include: Respecting/promoting patient rights; responding appropriately to emergency codes; sharing problems relating to patients and/or staff with immediate supervisors quickly, keep supplies ready by inventorying stock, placing orders, verifying receipts, keep equipment operating by following operating instruction: troubleshooting breakdowns, maintaining supplies, performing preventive maintenance; calling for repairs if needed.
• Traveling is a required
Qualifications & Specifications:
• Education – High School Diploma required, prefer some college hours.
• Licensure & Certification – Successful completion of Medical Assistant/Nursing Assistant Program / CPR. Must be current with MA/NA certification.
• Experience – Minimum of one year work experience in patient contact work, preferably service related. Experience or interest in health care.
• Essential Skills – Knowledge of health care field.. Knowledge of specific assisting tasks related to particular medical specialty. Knowledge of information that must be conveyed to patients and families. Skills in performing task appropriately.
• Essential Physical Requirements – Must be able to use appropriate body mechanics techniques when making necessary patient transfers and helping patients with walking, dressing, etc. Must be able to lift up to 30 pounds of supplies.
• Working conditions – Combination of medical office and exam/procedure room settings. Well-lighted, well ventilated, adequate space.
