Position Summary:

- Observes patients in systematic manner and documents utilizing current policies and procedures, identifies changes in patient health status and reports these immediately to RN and MD/NP/PA.

- Assists with patient admissions, physical assessments, vital signs, pain assessment. 

- Ensures Infection Control, Safety and Risk Management policies are consistently followed.  Demonstrates safety as a priority and promotes a safe environment for patients, families, visitors, and staff.  Identifies potential safety issues and takes effective action to reduce the risk.

- Demonstrates competency in time management, prioritization, and medication management.

- Assists with levels of observation, patient checks/flow sheets, meal monitors, enuresis logs, other tracking forms, and patient check-ins as assigned by RN

- Notifies RN and works with other Nurses to assure adequate staffing all over the hospital.  Promotes effective teamwork between units and floors.

- Demonstrates the knowledge and skill necessary to provide care and services for all patient age groups.

- Proficient with effective inter-shift communication, participating in providing accurate up-to-date information on patient care is reported to RN every shift.

Wyoming Behavioral Institute is owned by UHS (Universal Health Services), one of the largest providers of high-quality healthcare in the nation.

- Administers medications to patients per physician orders.  Takes off orders, validates the orders by “RBV” (read back and verify.)  Assists physicians and Nurse Practitioners/PA’s in obtaining medication consent from patients or their legal guardians.  Keeps RN informed of any concerns related to medication management.

LPNs must be at least 21 years old and be licensed or eligible to be licensed in Wyoming. We prefer experience in psychiatric nursing.
