Behavioral Educational Services, Inc. Riverdale Country School currently has a Language Arts Teacher position available for the 2015-2016 school year.


Under the direction of the Director and public school district, the Teacher position provides students with educational programs that will enable them to reach their fullest educational potential. This position may supervise the Teacher Aide (in classroom only).


1. Teacher must comply with the certification guidelines set forth by the Florida Department of Education and the Brevard County School Board or employment will be terminated. Teacher must provide a copy of the certification application and cancelled check for certification within one month from hire date.
2. Teacher must register for all statewide exams needed for certification at the first offering after hire and provide cancelled check or employment will be terminated.
3. Teacher must register for additional course work within the first semester and provide cancelled check for registration. Course work must be completed by due dates or employment will be terminated. Course transcripts must be provided to the school and DOE within two weeks of completion.

1. Develop and implement an educational plan that meets the needs, interests, and abilities of the student’s IEP.
2. Structure the classroom environment to conducive to learning and appropriate to the needs and interest of the students.
3. Establish clear procedures for the teaching of all objectives; communicate these objectives and procedures to all students.
4. Provide organized lesson plans to Director for approval, as required.
5. Encourage all students in the attainment of social/personal goals.
6. Employ a variety of instructional techniques and instructional media, consistent with the physical limitations of the location, as well as the needs and capabilities of the students.
7. Demonstrate through documentation and implementation, adherence to the District Plan for Exceptional Students.
8. Diagnose the learning strengths and weaknesses of students on a regular basis, seeking the assistance of Resource Teachers and Director as needed.
9. Assess the development of students quarterly, with the assistance from the Assistant Director and Director.
10. Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
11. Maintain accurate, complete and well organized educational records as required by law, district policy, and administrative regulations.
12. Assist facility administration in developing and implementing policies, rules and/or regulations.
13. Ensure personal availability for all school related events and needs, as requested by school administration.
14. Supervise and direct Teacher Assistant, and participate in the evaluation of Teacher Assistant with appropriate administrator.
15. Strive to maintain and improve professional competence.
16. Participate in approved activities leading to professional growth and assist in the maintenance of a professional growth record.
17. Adhere to facility, department, corporate, personnel, and policies and procedures.
18. Attend all mandatory facility in-services and staff development activities, as scheduled.
19. Adhere to facility standards concerning conduct, dress, attendance and punctuality.
20. Support facility-wide quality/performance improvement goals and objectives.
21. Maintain confidentiality of the parent company, the school, its employees, students, and families.

Education: Bachelor's Degree in Special Education and or other field from an accredited university or institution.  
Experience: Knowledge of educational theories and classroom teaching strategies with a good understanding of education and therapeutic intervention.
License: Valid teaching credentials to include the subject areas of ESE and Language Arts 6-12
