Position Summary:

Poplar Springs Hospital, a subsidiary of Universal Health Services, Inc. (UHS), located in Petersburg, Virginia, is seeking a qualified candidate to serve as Director of Plant Operations. This position will oversee all aspects of physical facilities, including regulatory compliance. Facilities consist of multiple buildings on two campuses totaling approximately 250,000 square feet. Position will also be involved in the planning and development of construction and renovation projects and act as a liaison between contractors and administration to ensure projects are proceeding as scheduled. Current projects include construction of a new 25,000 square feet building set to begin this summer as well as a 36 month renovation project set to start later this year. This individual will also manage the maintenance staff to ensure all work is completed efficiently, effectively, and department functions are monitored, evaluated, and improved.

 


 
Requirements

Qualified applicants should have a high school diploma or equivalent, Bachelors Degree preferred. Advanced knowledge of trades including HVAC, Plumbing, and mechanical functions preferred, with a minimum of five years in commercial trades required. Candidates must have a minimum of three years supervisory experience and two years healthcare experience. Must have proven knowledge of Joint Commission and Life Safety standards and understand current regulations related to facilities. Candidate must have strong written and verbal communication skills, the ability to adhere to confidentiality guidelines, the ability to organize and manage time and priorities effectively and the ability to make independent decisions consistent with policies, procedures, and hospital standards.
