River Point Behavioral Health is a 95-bed treatment facility that specializes in quality behavioral health and substance abuse services for adults and seniors.  We offer a full continuum of care through an integrated system of inpatient, residential, partial hospitalization and intensive outpatient programs.  Progressive professionals in the fields of psychiatry, medicine, nursing, social services, education and activity therapy provide our  comprehensive services.

Job duties for this position will include the following:

On morning shift opens the kitchen and ensures organization of daily events; on night shift ensures all equipment is turned off, freezer loaded, cleaning schedules followed and kitchen is locked.

Complies with facility and departmental policies and procedures regarding food services offered.

Follows menus and recipes as provided by the Dietary Director.

Prepares meals and beverages according to menu cycle and daily production sheet, providing attention to attractive and tasteful meals, attractive display on tray line.

Accurately prepares food for modified diets, consulting with Dietitian as required.

Completes and prepares meals in a timely manner as prescribed by posted meal times.

Follows posted cleaning schedule and ensures a clean work area and dining room at all times. Uses the posted opening and closing check lists to ensure a safe and clean facility each day

Documents refrigeration, freezer and milk cold box temperatures which are taken on a daily basis and ensures the morning aide has properly taken and documented the dish machine temperatures and sanitizing cycle PPM according to posted schedule on a daily basis.

Adheres to standards for food temperatures during cooking, serving and storage of leftovers.

Will turn into the Dietary Director all completed check lists at the end of each day.

Maintains walk-in refrigerator, freezer and storerooms in an orderly fashion, and properly dates and labels all open and/or leftover food items. Ensures all cans in the dry storeroom have been properly dated and rotated.

Adheres to appropriate portion control and avoids overproduction.

Complies with established guidelines for sanitation and safety, follows cleaning schedules as posted. Ensures any discrepancies noted on department sanitation inspections are promptly addressed and completed.

Provides leadership to the other food service staff during shift ensuring completion of daily tasks.

Interacts with patients in the serving line, offering assistance in the selection of a nutritionally balanced meal.  Provides good customer service for patients and staff always practicing service excellence methods.

Reports any equipment malfunction immediately to the Assistant Manager and/or the Dietary Director.

Provides assistance with washing dishes and maintaining dish room in a clean and orderly fashion.

Performs end of shift clean up of work area to include sweeping and spot mopping of kitchen floors.

Demonstrates understanding of proper cleaning and sanitation procedures

Serves on food line as needed

Answers questions and demonstrates procedures for food service workers

 Assists in training personnel, stocks and stores food service items delivered to the facility in a timely manner

Assists in the preparation of daily menu items; adheres to standard recipes and general instructions

Follows designated recipes, will measure, weighs and combine all ingredients for quantity and quality preparation of assigned menu items

Prepares food items for individual serving following portion control standards

 Maintains safe and sanitary conditions in specified work area

Uses established safety practices to protect health and safety of personnel and property

Assists in maintenance of inventory, food consumption and other food service records

Will ensure that all food items put on the serving line will be within the proper temperatures for serving and will assist with preparing meal trays for delivery to patients on units in accordance with policies that are applicable.

Will take temperatures of all food items on the serving line each meal and record them on the “patient service log” and will ensure that the kitchen aide delivering meals to units will take temperatures of food items in a test tray according to the prescribed schedule to ensure that patients are receiving hot nutritious meals

Provides routine information about meals to customers

Performs other duties as assigned by the Dietary Director and/or the Assistant Manager.

Adheres to the prescribes dress codes for the company and the department which must include proper footware which must be at least a non slip soled shoe with a closed back and a solid toe.

Qualified candidates for the position must have these skills and abilities:

* Must have some high school education

* Must have at least 6 months commercial food preparations experience preferably in a healthcare setting

* Able to follow and comprehend oral and written instructions for food plans, and food and kitchen preparations

* Must be able to calculate the proper proportions for the serving of a meal and modifying any necessary recipes as needed

* Must be able to follow the safety requirements for the kitchen

* Must be to lift 25 or more pounds

* Must be able to stand for long periods of time

* Must be able to manuever throughout the cafeteria and kitchen area

* Must be able to push or pull 30 pounds or more

* Must be able to work the required scheduled as needed from 6a to 7p and some weekends (Hours will vary)
