Texas NeuroRehab Center (TNC) provides complex medical and brain injury rehab, chemical dependency treatment for adults and neuropsychiatric treatment for youth. The capabilities of the facility as a whole allow for integrated and specialized care for children, adolescents and adults facing difficult challenges.

Texas NeuroRehab Center is currently accepting applications for a Collector-Patient Account Representative.

The Collector-Patient Account Representative will maximize cash collections and minimize bad debt expense, while maintaining the integrity of each patient’s account and maintaining good customer relations. The candidate selected will be responsible for the following: Responsible for verification of eligibility of all funding sources for Bluebonnet Outpatient admissions, provide backup assistance for all other programs when needed. Re-verify all Medicaid in-house patients on the first of each month. Provide backup assistance for all other program admissions as needed. Re-verify all Medicaid in-house patients on the first of each month. Immediately communicate any ineligible patients to UR case managers and document on UR report. Update UR Case management file daily to reflect new admissions, deleting discharges. Update other daily excel files as assigned. Follow-up and analysis of any account on an on-going basis in order to maximize reimbursement within a reasonable time frame.

Knowledge of patient accounting system, knowledge of documenting collection follow-up and issuing refunds. Includes problem resolution with supervisor, telephone calls to third party payers, patients, and interdepartmental. Each account should have been reviewed, followed-up, and the screen documented at least once each month for both third party payer and self-pay portion. Responsible for review of accuracy of contractual on a timely basis. Reviews posting from cash receipts to audit account. Coordinate communication with UR Case managers, document on UR report and communicate problems with supervisor.

 
Requirements

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, & ABILITIES: • Must be computer literate and able to use a typewriter and calculator. • Knowledge of word processing, basic excel and Outlook. • Must be bondable. • Must have good verbal and written communication skills.

EDUCATION/TRAINING: • High school diploma or equivalent.

LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION: • None required.

EXPERIENCE: • One-year experience in an insurance claims submission and basic audit skills position. • Prior billing experience in a hospital setting preferred.

PHYSICAL/GENERAL: • Vision, hearing, verbal communication ability (by phone and face-to-face), emotional stability, and dexterity sufficient to perform essential job functions and handle stress and changing priorities. • Requires repeated use of hands and fine motor skills to use 10-key and computer. • Ability to see and write legibly. • Ability to lift/lower up to 30 pounds and grasp and move items (including changing paper on computer printer). • Ability to sit for extended periods of time. • Ability to stand for extended periods of time (to file and research inquiries). • Regular and expected attendance
