Position Summary:

Belmont Pines Hospital, the largest freestanding children’s behavioral health hospital in northeast Ohio and western Pennsylvania, is the premier provider of comprehensive behavioral services for children and adolescents. The modern, 51,580-square-foot facility is located on 19 wooded acres in Liberty Township, Ohio, and offers 102 beds in a safe and comfortable environment designed for young patients.

This entry-level position is responsible for providing direct care of child and adolescent patients in accordance with hospital policies and procedures in collaboration with the Charge RN and Unit Director.
 - Comply with the established policies and procedures requiring a safe, clean and therapeutic environment.
 - Assist in admission and discharge of patients
 - Practice universal precautions and environmental safety guidelines.
 - Recognize and respond to priorities in patient care responsibilities.
 - Supervise and assist patients in all daily activities, including personal hygiene
 - Model and teach appropriate social skills
 - Assist with patients' medication
 - Check patients for contraband and manage the patient’s valuables and belongings.
 - Report potential crisis situations to the nurse in charge and responds in an appropriate fashion.
 - Ensure patient safety through continuous supervision of patient and maintenance of q 15-minute checks.
 - Establish and maintain a professional therapeutic relationship with patients
 - Assume responsibilities for the completion of all patient care responsibilities and other assigned duties.
 - Act as the patient’s advocate and assure that patient’s rights are upheld.
 - Comply with established measures for infection control, OSHA regulations, and risk management.
 - Comply with the Employee Code of Ethics.
 - Adhere to all facility and personnel policies and procedures.
 - Participate in continuous Performance Improvement activities.


Education:  High School Diploma or GED required.  Bachelor or Associate degree in psychology, social work, therapy preferred

Experience: Two (2) years of related experience, with a knowledge of psychiatric patient care techniques with understanding of mental illness preferred.

Licensure:   Must maintain a valid Ohio driver's license.

Additional Requirements: CPR Certification and successful completion of Crisis Intervention Training (CPI) including appropriate use of Seclusion and Restraint immediately following employment and prior to performing patient care.
