Position Summary:

Parkwood Behavioral Health System has provided behavioral health and chemical dependency services to the Mid-South region since 1987. We are located in DeSoto County, in the uppermost northwest corner of Mississippi and approximately 7 miles south of Memphis.

We offer a full continuum of care that provides treatment options to meet the individual needs of adults, adolescents and children. Parkwood Behavioral Health System includes a 148-bed inpatient acute and residential care facility, as well as partial hospitalization and intensive outpatient programs.

Parkwood Behavioral Health System is currently seeking a Adult Services Clinical Manager for the daily operations of the collection department. The Biller/Collector will ensure the collection of payments due to Parkwood Hospital in a timely, accurate manner. The Adult Services Clinical Manager functions in a manner consistent with the philosophy and objectives of Parkwood Behavioral Health System.

The Adult Services Clinical Manager provides oversight of social work/therapeutic services in a manner consistent with the philosophy and objectives of the facility.


To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to demonstrate competency in the criteria listed in this job description. The specifications listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and ability to meet the minimum requirements for this position. Staff must demonstrate flexibility in providing care to varied populations including male and female adults, and geriatric patients suffering from a variety of mental health issues. Staff must be clinically adept in dealing with patients in an acute care setting, as well as an outpatient setting along a continuum of care. Staff must have knowledge and experience in assessing and evaluating the needs of the patients, as well as providing evidence-based clinical programming.

This position will require staff to maintains the quality of social services provided through policies, procedures, PI, and the supervision of licensed and non-licensed clinical therapists. Serves as clinical liaison with the continuum of care services. Contributes to the development of programs for specialized patient populations for inpatient and continuum of care. In conjunction with community resources, contributes to the maintenance of relationships with outside agencies, private practitioners, insurers and family members. Uses an understanding of the principles of growth and development to assess each patient’s specific needs and provide clinical treatment and care.

Education: Masters degree in health or human services field.

Experience: Five years minimum prior psychiatric experience required, and minimum of two years experience in management strongly preferred

Licensure/Certification: LCSW, LPC or LMFT required.

Knowledge: Knowledge of individual, group and family therapy theory and practice, case management, group leadership skills, discharge planning, age specific growth and development and crisis and behavior management. Knowledge of program development and outreach strongly desired.

Supervision Received: Director of Clinical Services

Supervision Exercised: Direct care therapists

In absence of these qualifications upon hire, must demonstrate ability to learn these concepts and develop these skills within reasonable time frame via the organization’s orientation and training program.

Environmental Conditions:

Exposure to psychiatric patients who may exhibit violent/aggressive behavior. Potential for exposure to communicable diseases, blood/body fluids and other hazardous waste. General hospital environment.

Loss Control Safety Standards:

Staff must adhere to all safety policies and safe work practices. Attendance of hospital safety trainings is required. Staff must adhere to all hospital policies and procedures and report all accidents immediately to a supervisor.

Physical and Mental Requirements:

Must be able to exercise self-control in potentially volatile situations such as being verbally or physically confronted in a threatening or aggressive manner. Must be able to work and concentrate amidst distractions such as noise, conversation and foot traffic. Must be flexible and not easily frustrated in dealing with differences of opinion.

Must be able to stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, stand for sustained period of time, walk, pull, lift objects from a lower to higher position or horizontally from position to position, finger grasp; feel sizes, shapes, temperatures and textures; express or exchange ideas orally, accurately and quickly; perform repetitive motions of the wrist, hands or fingers. Light work most of the time, exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently; and occasionally medium work, that is exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently. Work requires a minimum standard of visual acuity with or without correction that will enable the employee to complete administrative and clerical tasks and visually observe patients on the unit and in therapeutic activities.

Visual Acuity: Machine Operators (including inspection), Inspection, Close Assembly, Clerical, Administrative:

This is a minimum standard for use with those whose work deals largely with preparing and analyzing data and figures, accounting, transcription, computer terminal, excessive reading, visual inspection involving small defects, small parts, operation of machines (including inspection), using measuring devices, assembly or fabrication of parts at distances close to the eyes.

Level of Reading and Writing Required for Job:

College level reading and writing skills required.
