Position Summary:

Under administrative direction, provides direction, supervision, and coordinates all patient care activities and functions of the hospital on the assigned shift to ensure safe, quality patient care. Maintains operational aspects of the patient care units in the absence of Department Managers/Nurse Managers during assigned shift. Contributes to nursing and hospital through support of philosophy and objectives, education and research efforts.

 
Requirements
A. Work Experience:
Must have two (2) years clinical experience in addition to one (1) year experience in nursing management.
Must have strong managerial and communication skills. This position demands leadership, initiative, integrity, creativity and sound judgment.
B. Education:Graduate of an accredited school of nursing is the minimum requirement. BSN preferred.
C. License, Certification, or Registration required:
Current Registered Nurse licensure in the State of California. Current Basic Cardiac Life Support and Advanced Cardiac Life Support certification is required. Must have PALS certification within six months of hire.
D. Language Skills: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, patients, and the general public.
E. Mathematical Skills: Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
F. Reasoning Ability: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical/clinical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
